The Vegas Strong Resiliency Center is excited to host its very first online/in-person hybrid event open to everyone in the Route 91 community, Southern Nevada first responders, and victims of crime throughout the state.

Joyce Bosen, creator of the TRY method, will lead a Trauma Recovery Yoga session for a small group at the Las Vegas location while it's live-streamed for everyone else to participate from wherever they are during National Crime Victims' Rights Week. The TRY method is all levels, not because it is easy, but because it is based in choice.

Do as much or as little as you, your body, and your mind agree to. You can practice on a mat or in a chair.

Joyce will cue for either and demo the entire class, practicing with the group so you can practice along, watch it, or imagine it. See it, be it, or watch it! If you choose to sit and breathe, that is enough—you will still benefit!

Mindfully linking breath and movement, this method offers somatic and stress release. The session will start with a short, self-regulating and centering sequence based in science and psychology, moving with choice from seated to standing, creating internal heat to burn off excess energy, inspiring hope and happiness through visualization and affirmation, returning to seated, and finishing with a body scan meditation.

Joyce founded TRY with her husband as a way to overcome and thrive after experiencing trauma and PTSD firsthand. Their organization offered free classes across the Las Vegas community for those affected by the shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival and was presented with a 2017 Compassionate City Award by the mayor of Las Vegas.

In addition to this event, Brenda Hershey offers no-cost Trauma Recovery Yoga sessions to those in the Route 91 community and first responders who have been approved for integrative services through the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center. Learn more.
