Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $4,156,528)
Under this FY 2021 TVSSA Award, MUSCOGEE CREEK NATION will provide culturally-appropriate victim services using approaches and strategies best aligned with meeting community needs. The awardee will report semi-annually on number of victims served, services provided, and other relevant data. In addition, to address significant needs for expanded victim services resulting from the McGirt decision, the Muscogee (Creek) Nation will use a supplement of $1,800,000 to continue efforts at sustaining and increasing victim service staff, which includes and Advocate Supervisor to provide necessary oversight/supervisor support to OVC staff, purchasing necessary supplies and equipment, and implementing a case management software system to streamline and digitize program services and to create culturally-responsive forensic interviewing space to better serve child victims. These special funds will also support on-going training for multi-disciplinary professionals who are serving victims of crime. Finally, this funding would be used to meet the need for increased office space as a result of program growth and to ensure necessary social distancing precautions due to the pandemic. All activities would be implemented in a way to increase services and support to victims of crime on the Muscogee reservation affected by the McGirt decision.
