Housing Assistance for Survivors of Human Trafficking

Real Escape from the Sex Trade (REST) will serve adult victims of sex trafficking of all genders, including both U.S. Citizens and Foreign Nationals. Funding will support the expansion of REST's Transition-in-Place (TIP) housing assistance program to increase permanent housing access for 40 survivors and provide additional housing advocacy support for 120 survivors. This will significantly address the gap in available and affordable housing for survivors of trafficking while ensuring that effective support services are in place for survivors to build housing stability and economic independence long term. The TIP program ensures that survivors have the support they need to maintain at least 12 months of permanent housing while preparing them to maintain independent, permanent housing and economic independence after they transition from services. The TIP program provides safe, stable community-based housing and support services for survivors of trafficking and utilizes a gradually reduced rental subsidy distribution model over a period of 12 months. 

Through the proposed project, REST will provide housing advocacy to 120 survivors to increase housing stability and access to permanent housing options; transition-in-place rental subsidies to 40 survivors for 12 months; peer support and life skills education for 40 survivors; intensive case management for 40 survivors, to support them in accessing resources and achieving self-identified goals; employment services and workforce development opportunities for 40 survivors to increase job placement, retention, and advancement; and follow-up services for 40 survivors for up to 12 months after the initial year of permanent housing to assess housing stability and economic independence.
