San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) proposes to strategically fill gaps in the San Diego County, California by offering new, flexible housing resources to youth sex trafficking survivors between 16- to 25-years-old with transitional housing and short-term housing assistance. New housing will be accompanied by voluntary, trauma-informed case management services that emphasize job placement and permanent housing by leveraging agency resources to augment funded services, such as our TAY Works! workforce development program, and referral to community supports. SDYS serves on numerous community-level cooperative groups and holds over 40 collaborative agreements with diverse entities, providing extensive connections to expand on funded services and meet whole person needs, such as childcare, legal services, and mental health services. SDYS’s case management services employ evidence-based frameworks (Positive Youth Development (PYD), Trauma-Informed Care (TIC)) and approaches (Motivational Interviewing (MI)) that support youth success, autonomy, and community integration. Program direct services will be enhanced with training, outreach, and education, emphasizing landlord engagement, that seeks to increase public safety and housing resources in San Diego’s Qualified Opportunity Zones.
Through this program, SDYS will provide the following services: house 24 new youth (2 per quarter); 1,248 hours of case management (104 per quarter); 24 youth survivor assessments (2 per quarter) and 24 service plans (2 per quarter); 30 follow-up services (Beginning Q3: 3 per quarter); 72 linkages to community resources and services (10 per quarter); 72 employment and education specific services and linkages (6 per quarter); 72 permanent housing specific services and linkages (6 per quarter); 36 landlord outreach, recruitment and education services (3 per quarter); 18 trainings to Qualified Opportunity Zone entities (1 to 2 per quarter); and 1,020 views, engagements, and impressions on social media channels (85 per quarter).
