In response to the growing problem of human trafficking, Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (Fresno EOC) Sanctuary and Support Services established the Central Valley Against Human Trafficking (CVAHT) project in 2009. Through the Central Valley Freedom Coalition, a multi-disciplinary network of over 1,200 members, which the project administers, CVAHT has built partnerships with law enforcement, victim advocate groups, district attorneys, the judicial system, faith-based groups, medical providers, and social services organizations.
To expand access to housing for victims of human trafficking, Fresno EOC will provide transitional and short-term housing and appropriate services to victims of human trafficking. Primary activities will include 1) providing transitional housing assistance to 18 victims of human trafficking, 2) providing short-term housing assistance for 6 victims of human trafficking, 3) collaborating with and training local partners to ensure trafficking victims are properly identified and referred for appropriate services, 4) providing support services to at least 24 victims of human trafficking, including comprehensive case management services, and 5) collecting data to determine if the project is meeting goals and objectives.
All services will be trauma-informed and will utilize collaboration and survivor input to best meet the needs of victims of all forms of human trafficking.
