Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $598,719)

Advocating Opportunity (AO) provides holistic legal services, support, and advocacy for trafficked and exploited people based on a trauma-responsive legal and human rights-based framework. Services are designed to consolidate, coordinate, and help victims navigate all health, wellness, social, and legal services. The communities to be served by this funding are victims of human trafficking and their families. The goal of this program is to provide safe, stable housing and appropriate support services through a Housing First model to address individual needs, and prioritize rapid placement and stabilization in permanent housing. A network of housing options will be made available for victims and survivors through existing shelters, motels and hotels, private facilities, private homes, foster care, and other community resources.
