Trauma-informed Comprehensive Legal Services and Case Management for Victims of Human Trafficking

Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice (LACLJ) and the Coalition to Abolish Slavery and Trafficking (CAST) propose to partner to provide comprehensive trauma-informed legal services and case management to victims of human trafficking. LACLJ will provide comprehensive, victim-centered legal services, such as immigration, family law, victim-witness advocacy, as well as on-site case management. CAST will refer human trafficking survivors to LACLJ for services, provide professional development training to legal and case management staff, and provide technical assistance. Services will target the high- need area of Los Angeles County, with an emphasis on the county's Spanish-speaking immigrant population. The goal of this project is to continue to support human trafficking survivors’ well-being through victim-centered, trauma-informed legal services integrated with case management. LACLJ will meet this goal through the following objectives: 1) Provide victim centered, holistic, comprehensive trauma-informed legal services to victims of human trafficking; 2) Provide victim-centered, holistic and trauma-informed case management and referrals to other essential services as an integrated part of the legal services model; and 3) Collaborate with funded service providers such as CAST, as well as law enforcement, and other unfunded service providers and community- and faith-based organizations to ensure victims of human trafficking are identified and referred for appropriate services.
