IRC Tucson's Service for Victims of Human Trafficking Purpose Area 1 Project

The International Rescue Committee in Tucson (IRC) proposes to develop, expand and strengthen services for domestic and foreign victims of human trafficking, including programs that provide trauma-informed, victim-centered services in the project area of Pima, Cochise and Santa Cruz Counties in Arizona. The goal of these services is to achieve increased safety, independence, self-sufficiency, and well-being for domestic and foreign victims of all forms of human trafficking. The IRC will: 1.) Conduct a needs assessment to understand the gaps in services for victims of human trafficking and evaluate agencies’ capacity to serve victims; 2.) Build internal capacity to serve victims of human trafficking; 3.) Ensure that both internal and external parties who respond to cases have access to trauma informed training such as OVC’s Understanding Human Trafficking; 4.) Collaborate with and train key stakeholders to develop comprehensive response protocols to ensure that trafficking victims are identified and referred to appropriate services; 5.) Provide referrals to other essential services and providers for victims of human trafficking; 6.) Work collaboratively to develop protocols and procedures with key stakeholders and local partners to ensure victims are properly identified and receiving appropriate services; 7.) Provide comprehensive services to meet the individualized needs of all victims of all forms of human trafficking; and 8.) Conduct data collection and participate in evaluation activities to ensure the program is meeting stated goals and objectives. Through these activities, the IRC in Tucson will build an effective and collaborative support system to ensure safety, create access to services, and promote successful integration for all victims of human trafficking in Southern Arizona. Victims of human trafficking, partnering agencies and the community in Pima, Cochise and Santa Cruz counties will all benefit from this project.
