Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2021, $350,000)
Global Alliance Solutions Foundation (GASF) provides services in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw Counties of Michigan to all individuals who meet requirements of project funders with an emphasis on empowering women and working with immigrant and refugee communities. GASF provides extensive case management services, respecting the diversity and cultural impact for minorities, and supporting basic and language needs of individuals. Funding will support developing GASF’s capacity to serve victims and survivors of severe human trafficking working with other organizations for guidance and support. Additionally, GASF will continue to provide trauma informed care and advocacy for constituents. Services available will include: legal advocacy, crisis intervention, client orientation, ongoing case management, emotional support through individual and supportive groups (Didactic & Process), counseling, clinical therapy and various mental health modalities (Psychiatric and Psychological), education, employment assistance, housing and shelter advocacy, interpreters and translators, substance abuse treatment, personal care items, food, clothing, and other basic needs. Skills and services for victims will be further identified as part of the training and project development.
The GASF Human Trafficking program model infuses collaboration among proven experts and is uniquely thought and strategically tailored to increase the healing and recovery of survivors and support prosecution of human traffickers. Partners include, but are not limited to: Detroit Police Officers Association; Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD); International Institute of Metropolitan Detroit; Alternatives For Girls (AFG); and Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR).
