Enhancing Access to Comprehensive Services for Human Trafficking Victims in the San Francisco Bay Area

Ruby's Place in Alameda County, California, will provide a range of trauma-informed supportive services to a variety of individuals who experience human trafficking including victims of both sex and labor trafficking, minors and adults, individuals of all genders, U.S. Citizens, residents, and foreign nationals. Ruby's Place serves primarily victims residing in or exploited in Alameda County but does provide support for victims from throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The overall goal of the program is to strengthen trauma-informed victim service programs for victims of human trafficking. Program objectives are: 1) provide services to meet the individual needs of victims of human trafficking; 2) collaborate with and train local partners to ensure trafficking victims are properly identified and referred for appropriate services; 3) provide assistance or referrals to other essential services for victims; and 4) collect data and participate in evaluation activities to determine if the program is meeting stated goals and objectives. Specific services to be provided include information and referral; personal advocacy/accompaniment; emotional support, safety, and health services; shelter and housing services; criminal/civil justice system assistance; and support with education and employment goals and life skills. Partners include the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach, Tiburcio Vasquez Community Health Center, Horizon Services, International Rescue Committee, and Progressive Transitions.
