Expansion of the South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force

The purpose of the South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force (SFHTTF) is the identification of potential human trafficking victims and the prosecution of their traffickers through victim-centered, trauma-informed, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Miami-Dade County, via its Police Department, and International Rescue Committee will enhance multidisciplinary collaboration among the SFHTTF whose geographic jurisdiction covers Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties. The goal is to support a sustainable, multidisciplinary, co-leadership task force approach to improve and increase victim identification of all forms of human trafficking, provide victims with access to services, and seek justice on their behalf. The project’s activities and outcomes are: l) Develop, sustain, and strengthen co-leadership structure and coordination of ECM taskforce partnerships and activities; 2) Have written protocols to guide overall task force functions, including service delivery and investigative and prosecutorial activities; 3) Collect data and conduct assessment to understand community vulnerabilities and determine if program goals and objectives are met; 4) Implement victim-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative approaches by leveraging expertise of task force partners and implementing task force protocols and training with feedback from Survivor Consultants; 5) Investigate, refer, and prosecute trafficking cases at all levels; and 6) Assist trafficking victims in achieving increased safety, independence, self-sufficiency, and well-being.
Core Task Force members include Miami-Dade Police Department, International Rescue Committee, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigations, and U.S. Attorney's Office
