Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2024, $200,000)

The purpose of this grant program is to provide culturally responsive services to crime victims and survivors from communities that have been historically underserved; marginalized; adversely affected by inequality; and disproportionately impacted by crime, violence, and victimization. With this funding, HARAMBE SOCIAL SERVICES, INC., will address homelessness resulting from domestic violence and the lack of affordable housing for survivors from the African Diaspora in the Camden, New Jersey area. Services to be provided will include individualized case management; advocacy by experienced advocates to aid survivors in finding employment; referrals to job readiness programs or other skills training; financial supports to aid with job searches, e.g. transportation, car repairs, or car insurance; referrals to long-term housing and mental health services.
