Creating Pathways to Justice, Healing and Hope (Purpose Area 2: Technical Assistance Provider)

OVC released the Vision 21: A Pathway to Justice, Healing, and Hope: Addressing Polyvictimization in a Family Justice Center Setting Solicitation to establish a demonstration initiative focused on developing a special polyvictimization program model within Family Justice Centers (FJC) and other comprehensive co-located services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Through this initiative, a specialized trauma-informed polyvictimization screening tool will be developed and offered to both adults and children receiving services at the FJC’s, followed by the provision of the wide range of services needed to address survivors’ complete history of current and past experiences with violence.

With this award, the Alliance for HOPE International will serve as the comprehensive technical assistance provider for this demonstration initiative in partnership with the Center for Innovations in Trauma Informed Approaches, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, the Chadwick Center for Children and Families, and the University of Oklahoma's Center for Applied Research on Nonprofit Organizations. A National Experts Team will be established including Dr. David Finkelhor, Dr. Vincent Felitti, Dr. Ted Corbin, and other experts in polyvictimization and the impacts of historical oppression, race, and community violence on a survivor's experience with trauma.

The Alliance will work with the demonstration sites to change, adapt, and review their current practices to ensure the implementation of trauma informed approaches by all disciplines and partners; comprehensive screening for polyvictimization/trauma history/trauma symptoms; and access to a long term " community" for survivors after selected crisis intervention services are delivered. The Alliance will work with the demonstration sites to address the complex needs of polyvictimization survivors through a multi-pronged approach :1) developing an evidence-based, trauma-informed understanding of polyvictimization and the implications for services and support in FJC's/MA Models in the context of LET's, a screening and assessment polyvictimization tool and dissemination of lessons learned; 2) facilitating a culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered approach to serving polyvictims ( adults and children) in the six demonstration sites through customized TTA, strategic planning, and pilot testing of screening and assessment tools and 3) working with demonstration sites to create individualized polyvictim-driven service delivery with measurable outcomes for survivors and their children.
