Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2017, $443,367)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance Program is created to assist American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop, enhance, and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that (1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families, and the community and (2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to all identifiable victims of crime, their families, and the community.

Specifically with this funding, the project will: 1) hire a full-time victim services coordinator and assistant to establish the program, provide referrals and develop case plans; 2) support a part-time tribal court coordinator to organize efforts throughout the community; 3) purchase a vehicle to provide transportation to enhance victim response; and 4) provide school-based trauma informed care through intervention groups.
