Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $339,925)

The Comprehensive Tribal Victim Assistance (CTVA) Program supports American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities to develop, enhance, and sustain a comprehensive victim assistance program that (1) provides a coordinated collaborative multidisciplinary response to victims of crime, their families, and the community and (2) provides trauma-informed, culturally competent holistic services to all identifiable victims of crime, their families, and the community.

Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate is a Federally-recognized Tribe located on the 110,000 acre Lake Traverse Indian Reservation which extends across part of northeastern South Dakota, as well as a portion of southeastern North Dakota. The tribe has approximately 14,000 enrolled members.

The Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate will use this funding to: 1) retain its 1.0 FTE Victim's Assistance Coordinator who provides direct services to victims of crime; and (2) provide emergency assistance with food, clothing, rent, utilities, etc. to victims of crime.
