Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $925,000)
The primary goal of the FY 2018 Comprehensive Services for All Forms of Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to assist victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. The Program provides funding to victim service organizations with a demonstrated history of providing comprehensive services for victims of human trafficking. Funding also supports efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking victims through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities.
With this award, the Mosaics Services for Victims of Trafficking (SVT) Program will serve trafficked persons identified in the North Texas region, which includes the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The fourth largest metropolitan area in the nation, North Texas has seen a larger number of trafficking-in-persons cases due to its economic stability, cultural diversity, proximity to the border, and role as a transportation and business hub. Mosaic uses a holistic services model to provide wraparound services, including comprehensive case management, legal services, immigration assistance, counseling, housing, and employment assistance; and links clients with additional medical care, education, applicable government benefits, and other needs. Mosaic will also continue to conduct extensive outreach to improve community understanding of human trafficking and how to identify victims.
