Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2018, $696,096)
The Enhanced Collaborative Model Task Force to Combat Human Trafficking Program is designed to support the development and enhancement of multidisciplinary human trafficking task forces that implement collaborative approaches to combat all forms of human trafficking, including sex and labor trafficking of both foreign nationals and U.S. citizens (of all sexes and ages), within the United States. The task forces will implement victim-centered and coordinated approaches to: identify victims of all types of human trafficking; investigate and prosecute sex trafficking and labor trafficking cases at the local, state, tribal, and federal levels; and, address the individualized needs of victims through quality services. Awards will be made to a lead law enforcement agency and a lead victim service provider within each task force. This award will be made to the Suffolk County Police Department who will work in collaboration with the Empowerment Collaborative of Long Island, Inc. to implement this project within Suffolk County, New York.
