The goal of the FY 2019 Direct Services to Support Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this program supports specialized services to victims of sex and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities over a three-year project period.
Awaken will increase its capacity to reach underserved victims of sex trafficking with direct services that address the emotional and physical needs of victims; assist primary and secondary victims to stabilize their lives with a measure of safety and security. Awaken will provide direct services to 20 victims of sex trafficking that includes access to shelter/housing annually. Services will include a 24-hour crisis hotline, crisis intervention, case management, information and referral services, short and long-term housing, follow-up contact, emergency financial and material assistance, individual and group therapy, criminal justice and legal support/advocacy, assistance with victims rights, personal advocacy.
