Massachusetts Task Force To Combat Human Trafficking

The goal of the FY 2019 Direct Services to Support Victims of Human Trafficking Program is to enhance the quality and quantity of services available to victims of human trafficking, as defined by the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) of 2000, as amended. Funding through this program supports direct services to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities over a three-year project period.

The Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office (MA AGO) will use this award to create the Commonwealth’s Anti-Trafficking (CAT) Task Force, a multijurisdictional task force to address complex trafficking cases and investigations and support trafficking victims. The CAT-Task Force will facilitate communication and collaboration among the MA AGO and the office’s Human Trafficking Division (AGO-HTD), the State Police Detective Unit (AGO-SPDU) assigned to the MA AGO-HTD, the MA AGO Victim Witness Services (AGO-VWS), advocates, and state law enforcement agencies and victim service providers. The proposed CAT-Task Force will build and implement a comprehensive strategy to address the needs of human trafficking victims across the state.
