This is the resource guide for planning and implementing activities for the 2014 National Crime Victims' Rights Week (NCVRW) on April 6-12.
Abstract

This Guide assists communities and victim assistance providers in promoting awareness of issues faced by crime victims. It includes educational content, campaign materials, artwork, and a theme video. Developed by the U.S. Justice Department's Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) in partnership with the National Center for Victims of Crime, the Guide promotes the 2014 theme, "30 Years Restoring the Balance of Justice." This theme refers to the passage of the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) 30 years ago. It enables the funding for crime victim compensation and victim assistance programs across the Nation. Among the information and tools provided in this Guide are user friendly outreach tools, current statistics on criminal victimization, information on the history of victims' rights in the United States, and practical suggestions for how a community can better serve crime victims. Guidance is also provided on developing a campaign for the week, with attention to the development of partnerships and strategies that might be used. Media tips and tools are included, along with descriptions of landmarks in victims' rights and services.
