Administered by OVC, the Crime Victims Fund provides support to state victim assistance and compensation programs annually. Annual Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Victim Assistance and Victim Compensation formula funding supports thousands of local victim assistance programs nationwide and provides millions in compensation to victims of crime.
Interactive data dashboards are now available to provide an overview of key performance measure data collected by OVC from the VOCA State Administering Agencies for Fiscal Years 2021–2023.
Victim Assistance performance measures collect data on the number of victims served and their demographics, types of victimization, and services provided. Victim Compensation performance measures collect data on the number of applications received, approved, and denied; types of crimes and victimizations associated with those applications; and amount of expenses paid.
Explore how victim assistance programs support local direct service programs and how victim compensation programs reimburse victims for out-of-pocket expenses resulting from a crime. For example, in Fiscal Year 2023, a total of 7,808,408 crime victims received support from victim assistance programs throughout the Nation, provided by 6,430 subgrantees through 9,808 subawards; and state victim compensation programs made payments to 202,830 claims throughout the Nation totaling $359,652,096.
