National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

National Human Trafficking Prevention Month

Every January, we observe National Human Trafficking Prevention Month to raise awareness about human trafficking, renew our commitment to serving all victims of sex and labor trafficking, and support anti-trafficking professionals.

In observance of this month’s commemoration, we highlight the following resources.

Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of OVC’s “Faces of Human Trafficking” Video Series

Over the past decade, OVC’s Faces of Human Trafficking video series has played a pivotal role in raising awareness, educating the public, and highlighting the tireless efforts of those combating human trafficking. Most importantly, the series amplified the voices of survivors, sharing beyond hard experiences and showcasing inspiring resilience.

We invite you to read blog posts from the OVC Human Trafficking Collective from some of the original “Faces of Human Trafficking” participants as they reflect on the progress made over the past decade and discuss a path forward for similar products in our collective fight against human trafficking.

OVC also hosted a discussion in partnership with the OVC Human Trafficking Collective and Survivor Engagement Training and Technical Assistance projects about “Faces of Human Trafficking”. A recording from this session will be posted to our website as soon as it is available.

Transparency Through Data: OVC's Human Trafficking Programmatic Dashboard Webinar

Get a first look at the FY 2023–2024 OVC Human Trafficking Performance Measurement Tool Data Dashboard. During this webinar, the OVC Performance Management Team will explore the importance of transparency and the nuanced role that data plays within the anti-trafficking field.

Using the dynamic and interactive features of the dashboard, the presenters will showcase recent grantee data to provide context to OVC’s focused work in supporting all victims of human trafficking.

OVC’s Anti-Trafficking Efforts Commemoration Guide

The Collaboration, Transformation, and Impact: OVC’s Anti-Trafficking Efforts Commemoration Guide provides outreach tools and sample materials, with a focus on addressing child labor trafficking, to help your organization develop and carry out its own anti-labor trafficking awareness campaign.

The guide features community outreach tools, a sample blog, sample social media posts, and more.

Child Victims and Witnesses Support Materials on Human Trafficking

Read a series of graphic novels or listen to audiobook versions of the Child Victims and Witnesses Support Materials on Human Trafficking. National experts and young trafficking survivors created the materials to support child and youth victims of trafficking ages 12−18 about how the justice system works, what their rights are, the roles of the different practitioners they might meet, and how they can cope with the difficult feelings they might have.

Watch a video series highlighting Sergio’s Story, which describes the experience of a young boy who was a victim of labor trafficking and is part of a federal case.

To increase access to the resources in this series, the Center for Justice Innovation is offering the opportunity to print and disseminate up to $10,000 worth of the materials. The Center for Justice Innovation, through funding from OVC, is accepting applications until January 31, 2025. Learn more and apply now.

Image Abuse Helpline

With funding from OVC, the Initiative will offer information and referrals, conduct physical safety assessments, offer guidance related to image searching, documenting evidence, image reporting, and image takedown, provide referrals to attorneys, and more. The project will also support efforts to raise awareness about the hotline and the services they provide.

Reclaim Project

OVC awarded funds to the Sanar Institute’s Reclaim Project to create standards of care for victims of online image-based abuse, build a network of organizations providing services to victims, increase awareness of these crimes, and enhance the capacity of the field.

Remote Tech Clinic to Combat Tech-Enabled Domestic Abuse in Rural Wisconsin

The purpose of this OVC-funded project is to support a research-practice partnership with victim service providers throughout the Wisconsin to increase access to tech clinic support for survivors of technology abuse living in remote parts of the state.
