Blog Highlights OVC’s Efforts To Support Racial Equity and Survivors of Hate-Based Violence


The Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) and other program offices at the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) are supporting efforts to advance racial equity and increase the integrity and legitimacy of the justice system.

A recent OJP blog post discusses four such programs, including two funded by OVC that seek to improve resources for treating trauma and victimization in historically underserved and marginalized communities.

Read the blog to learn about the Healing Justice program, which provides trauma-informed and culturally responsive materials for police and prosecutors; opportunities to engage in peer-to-peer support; and tips for media and the public. Also using OVC funding, the Community IMPACT program aims to increase the capacity of community-based organizations to promote improved services and assistance for victims of hate crimes.
