Award Information
Description of original award (Fiscal Year 2014, $238,451)
This project seeks to create and launch a local mobile application (mobile app) that will be available to victims of crime in Southwest Ohio with a major concentration in Montgomery County and its surrounding counties. The mobile app will serve as a single source portal to access local information, resources, and services. Mobile app feature concepts include: a bi-directional referral system in which users would be able to request referrals from specialty care providers and victim service providers and allied professionals would be able to electronically refer clients/victims to other service providers (victims would be able to approve, manage, and follow-up on referrals through the mobile app securely and discreetly); integration of links to resources including the Ohio Victim Compensation Program, local Domestic Violence Hotline, Human trafficking Hotline, the Victim Information and Notification (VINE) network and other resources as they are identified; educating victims on their rights as defined by the Ohio Attorney General and how to use technology safely; and incorporation of safety features that will enable a user to immediately conceal their use of the app through a "quick hide" feature. The applicant will partner with the University of Dayton Research Institute, as the mobile app developer, to create and launch this app. ca/ncf
