The Tribal Resource Tool: Resources for Survivors of Crime and Abuse

Search the Tribal Resource Tool to help locate services available to American Indian and Alaska Native survivors of crime and abuse. The Tool was created by the National Center for Victims of Crime, National Congress of American Indians, Tribal Law and Policy Institute, and StrongHearts Native Helpline with funding support from OVC.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration: Disaster Distress Helpline

The Disaster Distress Helpline is dedicated to providing year-round disaster crisis counseling. This toll free, multilingual, crisis support service is available 24/7 via telephone 800–985–5990 (for Spanish, press 2) and SMS (text 'TalkWithUs', or for Spanish, text 'Hablanos', to 66746) to residents in the U.S. and its territories who are experiencing emotional distress related to natural or man-made disasters.

Cyber Civil Rights Initiative

This organization provides victims of intimate image abuse (nonconsensual intimate image sharing), and other forms of online abuse with support and referral services. Contact their toll free Image Abuse Helpline hotline at 844-878-2274. The Initiative also offers information for policymakers, attorneys, and others to help them understand and combat image-based sexual abuse.

WomensLaw.org

This website provides state-specific legal information and resources for survivors of abuse. OVC helps fund the WomensLaw Email Hotline, which provides legal crisis intervention support using trauma-informed approaches that protect the safety and confidentiality of victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

The mission of the National Runaway Safeline is to help keep America's runaway, homeless and at-risk youth safe and off the streets. Contact the safeline toll free at 800–RUNAWAY (800–786–2929), text at 66008, or online chat.

Esperanza United

This organization provides bilingual advocacy and services to Latina victims of intimate partner violence. Their website includes a resource library, training and technical assistance opportunities, and more. Victims of domestic violence may contact the Esperanza United 24-hour bilingual crisis line at 651–772–1611 (Minnesota only).

Loveisrespect.org

This initiative promotes awareness of healthy dating relationships by making vital resources accessible to help teens experiencing dating violence and offering tips on preventing abusive relationships. The Loveisrespect.org helpline provides 24/7 phone, text and chat services to victims of dating violence; service providers and allied professionals; and concerned parents, friends and other members of the community.

Department of Defense (DoD): Safe Helpline

The DoD Safe Helpline is a confidential crisis support service for adult service members of the DoD community affected by sexual assault. Operated by the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), the helpline provides live, one-on-one expert advice and information 24/7.

Identity Theft Resource Center

The Identity Theft Resource Center is a nonprofit consumer information, research, and advocacy organization that offers public education, prevention tips, victim information guides, and other resources.

Victims of identity theft can receive expert services by contacting the Center's hotline toll free at 888–400–5530 or online chat.

U.S. Department of Health & Human Services: Eldercare Locator

This toll free service (800-677-1116) helps older adults and their caregivers find local services for seniors, including home care, transportation, housing alternatives, home repair, recreation, social activities, and legal and other community services. The directory is a service of the U.S. Administration on Aging.

National Domestic Violence Hotline

Contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week toll free at 800−799−7233 or TTY 800−787−3224, through online chat, or by texting LOVEIS to 22522. Staff are standing by to provide crisis intervention, information about domestic violence, and referrals to local programs. Services are available in many languages, including Spanish. All services are free and confidential.
